The Board of Directors is the legal authority for Project Imo, Inc. . As a member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the community, and is responsible for the effective governance of the organization. Board Members must be knowledgeable about and uphold Project Imo's bylaws and conflict of interest statements.
We need energetic, passionate people to serve on our Board of Directors who are willing to volunteer their time to promote the Project Imo mission, provide connections that can help the organization and our communities, bring an enthusiasm for social networking, and work as part of team in improving our services.
We are currently seeking new board members to help us broaden the scope of our programming, increase the number of communities to whom we provide services, and assist in meeting our strategic plan for the future. We are especially seeking a diverse panel of board members:
- with financial experience (accountants, bookkeepers, bankers)
- with experience in human resources and people operations
- with experience in academic assessments in peace and conflict resolution
- with marketing experience.
- who are community leaders
Board members should expect a quarterly meeting of 1.5 to 2 hours with capacity for in-person and hybrid meetings. Those interested in serving as Treasurer or in leadership positions would involve a slightly larger time commitment.
We are currently seeking board members interested in serving a 2 year term in the following roles:
Vice President: prepares to serve as president in the absence of the president, convenes the Nominations Committee as needed, performs other duties as prescribed by the Board of Directors.
Treasurer: may assist the Executive Director in reviewing bank statements and reconciliations on a quarterly basis, may constitute and lead the finance committee and presents financial statements for full board approval, advises executive director in the development of a budget for the organization.
Board member: participates in regular meetings of the Board of Directors and assumes all responsibilities of corporate governance as outlined by the Bylaws of the Organization and the State of Connecticut, may serve as chair of special committees.
