We DO have a lot of youth and school programs. Thank you for noticing.
We ALSO have a lot of programs for adults, community groups, businesses, and more. We offer a wide variety of adventurous experiences, professional development trainings, first aid/CPR/AED training, wilderness skills workshops, and more. We even offer guiding services for adventurers who want to learn more about their natural world, Leaving No Trace, and wilderness safety. You can find out about some of these on our Workshops and Trainings page.
Many of our programs are offered to a group with a specific program request. A youth group, a school, a community organization, or a local business will bring in our team to help them achieve a certain goal. If you have a group program you'd like to explore, email teamimo@projectimo.org and our team will help you build out a program!
We do offer programs and events open to the community. You can find our current open workshops on our Upcoming Workshops and Events page.

We know, right?? Youth benefit tremendously from caring, individualized mentorship programs. We are Connecticut's Award Center authorized by Award USA to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. This 9-24 month mentorship program offers youth a chance to build themselves up as they find out who they want to be in this world. Our mentors help guide the process they create. Upon completion, they receive the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and are eligible to join a network of millions of Award recipients across 130 countries.
Learn more about the Award here. We also offer a Youth Program Scholarship Fund to help remove financial barriers to access. You can learn more about that here.
The beauty of adventure is that it means so many different things to so many different people. At the heart of our programs are a few constants. We provide people a chance to challenge themselves in a safe and supportive environment where they choose the level of the challenge. This is challenge of choice. You set the level of adventure and we can readily adapt our programs.
Each program is custom designed for the specific desires of the group and we make sure each of our programs is an inviting place for every participant. A challenging adventure should be fun and give everyone a place to grow as they follow their individual path.
Why yes we do! We can offer a really large selection of immersive educational experiences to your group. Our team here at Project Imo is filled with veteran organizational leaders from a wide array of sectors. We offer deeply impactful, immersive leadership training to community organizations and business both large and small. As part of our charitable mission for community development, we know that partnering with other local organizations to strengthen their leadership helps the community as a whole. Strong businesses committed to excellence, ethical leadership, and partnerships are essential to every healthy community.
Each organizational leadership training is heavily customized after working with you to determine your organizational values, culture, and your desired outcomes. We specialize in helping teams build shared visions of leadership, creating sustainable leadership structures, and building the bench for leadership growth.
We facilitate your journey. No lectures here. No jargon. No "Next Best Leadership Model". No paper assessment models that get tossed in a drawer, rarely operationalized. Our organizational leadership training is centered on the participants and helps them build their leadership team from the inside out. We believe that is what creates sustainable leadership. Give us a call at 860-362-0005 or email jason@projectimo.org to start your leadership development journey.
Welcome to Project Imo! We are a 501c3 charitable educational organization that focuses on youth and community development and environmental conservation through shared experiences with each other and nature. We use a variety of experiential learning modalities such as adventure education, project-based learning, and experiential peacebuilding programs to connect people to self, other, and the broader natural world.
Our vision sees empowered, sustainable, diverse, and equitable communities connected with the environment where youth and the natural world are included as members with leadership voice.
Our mission is to provide immersive experiential and adventure education programs to help youth and communities develop relationships; provide access to nature to under-resourced communities; and spark environmental conservation.
In practice, our mission journey uses adventurous day and overnight programs for youth and adult community groups such as backpacking, hiking, paddle sports, adventure education sequences, nature-focused STEAM education, technology integrations, and structured community partnership programs. Our goals are to deliver tremendous program experiences supported by frameworks and partnership agreements that create success pipelines long after the program is over.
"As soon as the Project Imo volunteers became involved with our Camp Touchstone program, the entire endeavor was elevated to a new level. Every detail of the week was meticulously planned with the unique needs of our client population and our philosophical goals in mind.
The Imo volunteers presented an incredible array of fun and engaging activities, and their group facilitation and process skills brought reflection, intentionality, and meaning to each day. We unknowingly chose the hottest week of the summer, but our Imo staff consistently showed up with energy and enthusiasm to spare. By the end of the week, our little community was changed for the better and our students had experienced the transformative magic of summer camp.
Our students and our staff will always be thankful for the memories of our special week with Project Imo. Thank you to Jay, Jess, and Diana for an unforgettable program!"
