Monster Mash: A Halloween Build-a-Beast Workshop

Event Description

Get ready to let your imagination run wild at Monster Mash: A Build-a-Beast Workshop!

This family-friendly Halloween crafting event invites makers of all ages to design, build, and decorate their very own creepy, kooky, and completely original monsters. Whether you dream of creating a fire-breathing dragon, a googly-eyed gremlin, or a patchwork robot-zombie hybrid, this hands-on experience is all about fun, creativity, and collaboration. Come explore the Idea Forge Creators Space, where you’ll find tables piled high with colorful craft supplies, 3D-printed monster parts, paint, and plenty of inspiration to help your creature come to life!

Halloween monster made during a family craft workshop

Our team of Idea Forge staff and volunteers will be on hand to guide you through every monstrous step — from choosing materials and assembling limbs to painting, gluing, and adding the finishing touches. Participants will have access to a wide variety of tools and maker processes, including 3D printing, hot glue guns, hobby knives, paper cutters, and paint stations. Younger builders can enjoy safe, age-appropriate materials like foam shapes, pom-poms, and googly eyes, while older participants and adults can experiment with more advanced techniques to make their creations extra spooktacular.

The Monster Mash Build-a-Beast Workshop is perfect for families, friends, and creative spirits looking to make something truly one-of-a-kind this Halloween season. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult who can assist with their project — and don’t be surprised if the adults get just as carried away as the kids! Whether you’re an experienced crafter, a curious beginner, or someone who just loves the magic of Halloween, you’ll find this workshop an inspiring blend of art, technology, and imagination.

This event is part of Project Imo’s Spooktastic Halloween 2025 Series, sponsored in part by the Windham Prevention Coalition, Southeast Regional Action Council, and the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Youth Cannabis Use Prevention Grant. We are celebrating community and family creativity and seasonal fun throughout October. It’s the perfect warm-up for our big Community Halloween Party on October 31st, featuring costumes, games, music, and more. So grab your crafting spirit, gather your family and friends, and join us for a monstrously good time! You’ll leave not only with your custom-made creature, but also with new skills, great memories, and maybe a few paint splatters to prove your creative courage.

This event is a “pay what you can” event with a range of ticket options. Each ticket includes admission and a snack. Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot early and get ready to unleash your inner mad scientist at Monster Mash: A Build-a-Beast Workshop — where art, imagination, and Halloween magic come together to create something truly frightfully fun!
