What are zines?
Zine, (zee-n) shortened from ‘magazine’, is a short form expression of art and creativity that is typically published as a small booklet. They can be published on pretty much any topic under the sun but have a long history of being used for creativity and the spread of information in counter culture and protest movements. They are an accessible, easy, and low-cost way for anyone to make a statement, share their art or present a piece of themselves. Across the world, they have a strong swapping and sharing culture. They can be published both physically or digitally and libraries and archives of them are steadily increasing.
They are great for budding artists, seasoned veterans of publishing and everyone in between!
